Consideration must be given to the structure of the internal walls, floors and ceilings of computer server rooms to provide appropriate security and to prevent damage by fire, smoke or fire extinguishment (water) from other parts of the building. Due to varying construction methods and materials it is not possible to be prescriptive, however combinations of different materials, such as high impact gypsum boards, expanded metal sheets, plywood, and masonry have proved to be effective.
