Front Door
Front doors should be visible from the public realm to promote natural surveillance and recesses should not exceed 600mm. Front and rear/side doorsets must be certified to the following standards: Front and rear/side doorsets must be certified to current PAS 24 security standard. (Sect 21. New Homes 2010. For patio doors and French windows see Section 26 for additional information.) Flat entrance doorsets to be certified to same standard as above. (Sect 25. New Homes 2010. See 25.1 & 25.2 regarding locking mechanisms)
Recessed front door creates a potential hiding place and reduces natural surveillance from public realm. Recesses should not exceed 600mm.
