Asgard donates Secured by Design bike storage to the Brownlee Foundation charity
Secured by Design (SBD) member company Asgard Storage has once again partnered up with the Brownlees of Team GB fame.
Asgard last helped out Alistair Brownlee in 2018 when they provided him with a Secured by Design, Gladiator bike storage unit for his own bikes. Alistair has been super impressed with his own Asgard bike storage and so reached out to ask Asgard to help with a local Brownlee Foundation project.
Andy from Asgard Storage said: “The Brownlee Foundation is local to Asgard, and we have dealt with Alistair before, and he was such a nice guy, how could we say no! Timing is everything and on the day Alistar called we had just completed a photoshoot for our Bike Shed x 12 and Alistair was looking for a donation to hold multiple bikes for a local school - and there you have it, fate!”
Olympic Triathlon Champion, Alistair Brownlee, visited Dixons Academy in Chapeltown, Leeds, West Yorkshire to deliver regenerated, pre-loved bikes, in order to give more young people access to an active, healthier lifestyle through cycling. The used bikes, collected during Yorwaste’s summer Get ReCycling public appeals for used bikes, have been given a new lease of life, ready to be redistributed back into the community via the appeal’s several charity partners. One of these is the Brownlee Foundation, founded by Olympic Triathlete brothers, Alistair and Jonny Brownlee.
Jonny Brownlee said: “Alistair and I still get so much enjoyment from cycling, and we are keen for as many other young people as possible to experience this too. The Brownlee Foundation was set up to encourage children to be active, and cycling is a great way to do this. Not every child has access to a bike, so nothing gives us more pleasure than being able to provide this opportunity to this school today.”
Alfie Hosker, Secured by Design, said: “This is a fantastic partnership between Asgard & the Brownlee Foundation project. I know that both parties work unheralded across a number of communities, and I am delighted that on this occasion they have come together to help out to provide bikes and storage at schools in Leeds. I know this will be greatly appreciated to all those concerned”.
What did Asgard donate?
The Asgard x 12 shed is an epically sized bike shed. This enormous 14-foot shed is perfect for professional riders or those like schools who want to store multiple bikes and equipment all together in a safe and secure manner. Made from Galvanised steel, the weatherproof Gladiator bike shed x 12 was perfect for Dixons Academy. This super tough bike shed is Police and insurance-recognised thanks to the tough construction and security features such as 5-point deadbolt locking, reinforced doors, and ultra-tough inside-out construction.
Asgard bike storage is unique, as each bike store has an integral metal base, ventilated panels to reduce condensation, and provision to add electrics for charging batteries and riding equipment.
