BikeAway introduce the Warrior Cycle Hangar
Leading manufacturer in secure cycle locker storage and Secured by Design member company, BikeAway, have developed and designed the next generation of roadside Hangars – the Warrior Cycle Hangar.
Established over 25 years ago in Devon with the intention of developing a safe and secure bike locker, BikeAway has paved the way for locker security and is a market leader in secure cycle lockers. Company Director Jason Hamlyn has worked tirelessly over the years since developing secure cycle storage, with BikeAway’s Warrior range holding the Sold Secure Pedal Cycle Diamond accreditation.
The Warrior Cycle Hangar
This latest product in the range is a new take on the traditional Bike Hanger. The Warrior Hangar is modular and solid in design, increasing storage security, safety and is easier to use. Available to store 6-14 bicycles, this simple modular style hangar is extremely tough and secure, and will give 35+ years of service.
Warrior Bike Hangars have built-in safety features and adjustable legs that can be mounted from the edge of the pavement into the carriageway or directly onto paving.
Each compartment within a Warrior Bike Hangar is large enough to comfortably store 1 or 2 bicycles. As they are designed for individual use, there is no sharing of keys making them easier to manage and more attractive to cyclists, who can also store their accessories. Each compartment has a base, so rodent access is denied and, when suspended from the kerb, the space underneath allows for free drainage through the gully. The modular design gives flexibility allowing for a range of different sized bike hangars to suit individual site requirements. A standard 4.8m car parking space will accommodate a 14 cycle Warrior Hangar. Visually attractive wraps are included on end panels as standard.
Construction
A simple proven design produced in quality galvanised steel, using latest hi-tech CNC fold station and fibre laser cutting machines, at a Devon based factory. Strengthening gussets, channel section and anti-jemmy plates are included to reinforce the structure. To reduce the environmental impact, the hangars have an unpainted self-coloured galvanised finish, with only the door powder coat finished in Cement Grey. The doors are secured using patented lock design constructed from 6mm steel, guarded by additional hardened steel plates. All Warrior doors are fitted with hinges and locking points that ‘grab’ the sides of the hangar, making levering open next to impossible. They are supplied with a Sterling anti-drill padlock (with 2 keys). When used on the kerbside, hangars are bolted to pavement end only using 10mm anchor bolts, which allows for easy relocation of units. No drilling into the fabric of the road is necessary.
Safety
When opened, each single door provides a 600mm barrier between any pedestrians and the bike being removed. Reflective rubber corner protectors are fitted to give good visibility to drivers and provide roadside protection from metal edges for cyclists. Tapering roof allows for easy access by cyclist with lower profile roadside, giving good visibility for pedestrians and drivers. With no use of gas struts, Warrior Hangars offer a sustainable maintenance free bike storage solution, backed up by our 15 year manufacturer’s warranty.
The fixed base avoids the build-up of leaves and debris which can present a fire/arson risk.
