Business Crime Advisor undertakes crime prevention certificate
Lancashire Constabulary continues to improve the service it offers to local businesses, upskilling its officers in an aim to reduce the level of crime. Recently, Ellis Power, Business Crime Advisor at Lancashire Constabulary, started the accredited Level 4 Certificate in Crime Prevention for Practitioners as part of a national delivery facilitated by the Police Crime Prevention Academy.
The Level 4 Crime Prevention qualification supports delegates in providing specialist crime prevention advice in their role and disseminating that knowledge to colleagues, partner agencies and local communities.
The national delivery of the seminars provides the opportunity for delegates from a range of work backgrounds and locations to benefit from sharing experiences and knowledge around helping to make communities safer.
Head of Academy Guy Collyer said, “We were delighted to welcome Ellis onto the Academy’s national delivery of the Level 4 Crime Prevention Certificate in January 2021. Apart from representing the ongoing investment by Lancashire Constabulary in crime reduction and designing out crime, the virtual delivery of the classroom phase has enabled Ellis to exchange expertise and experiences with peers from local government, a leading university in England, partnerships in Northern Ireland and a public sector organisation in the Republic of Ireland.”
Ellis Power, Business Crime Advisor for Lancashire Constabulary, said “The online academy has pushed me out of my comfort zone and into areas I hadn’t explored before, while widening my knowledge and confidence around Crime Prevention which I can now disseminate when advising Police Officers and businesses during my daily work.”
Founded in 1839, Lancashire Constabulary covers an area of 1,189 square miles. The county has a population of nearly 1.5 million with a rich diversity of communities, all with specific policing needs. The Constabulary has 2,900 Police Officers and 2,500 Police Staff – of which 282 are PCSOs and 460 Special Constabulary Officers, Police Cadets and Community Volunteers.
