Business success for Secured by Design at IFSEC 2018
Secured by Design (SBD), the national police crime prevention initiative, had a constant stream of visitors throughout the IFSEC 2018 International Security Seminar and Conference in London on 19, 20 & 21 June 2018.
SBD was among the many exhibitors at Europe’s leading integrated security summit, which offered visitors the opportunity to see the security industry’s latest cutting edge developments displayed by the 1,600 exhibitors.
Tens of thousands of security professionals from around the world took the opportunity to attend a variety of security masterclasses, as well as view the security innovations ranging from access control, biometrics, video surveillance, intruder alarms, integrated security, IT and cyber security to physical security, as IFSEC addressed the critical global security challenges of 2018.
SBD’s stand attracted a lot of interest, with a steady stream of visitors to the stand wanting to find about SBD’s security, safety and crime prevention work across a range of building sectors including housing, commercial, retail, mixed use, transport, health, education, sport, leisure and many others.
Visiting CEO’s also found out how SBD assist in improving the physical security of buildings, by awarding our Police Preferred Specification to products, such as doors, windows and locks that are sufficiently robust to resist physical attack by casual and opportunistic burglars.
The event was attended by senior officers from SBD including Guy Ferguson, Chief Executive Officer and Jon Cole, Chief Operating Officer, as well as a large number of SBD Member Companies.
SBD member companies taking part were:
ASSA ABLOY
Burton Safes Limited
CSL
Cyclehoop
Cyclepods
Frontier Pitts Ltd
Gerda Security Products Limited
Guardian24
Jacksons Fencing
London Fire Solutions
PAC & GDX
SALTO Systems Ltd

Also in attendance were Perpetuity Research, a leading research company specialising in security, risk and crime prevention, who run a certification scheme for Police Crime Prevention Initiatives, Secured Environments, which is awarded to organisations that demonstrate effective security management.
About Secured by Design
SBD seeks to reduce crime by combining minimum standards of physical security like doors, windows and locks that achieve SBD’s Police Preferred Specification standard and proven design principles of the built environment such as natural surveillance and defensible space.
Whilst police are unable to recommend specific products, SBD can act as an effective gatekeeper and signposting service to our 650 member companies and their products, which meet our rigorous Police Preferred Specification standards.
Members’ products range from secure and robust doors, windows and locks through to cutting-edge IT products, CCTV components, and shutters and barriers. SBD is the only way for companies to obtain police accreditation for security products in the UK.
