Darren Richards, Temporary Chief Inspector, Isle of Man Police, said: “It is vitally important that we invest in training for our work force within the Neighbourhood Specialist roles. This will ultimately give the officers the skills to identify the root cause of crime, and deal with a particular issue using a problem solving approach to ensure there is no reoccurrence and that crime rates remain low on the island.

“Our partners included representatives from both probation and the fire service.

“As part of the programme officers have been given bespoke local projects to look at helping to reduce crime and keeping people safe”.

Speaking on behalf of the Police Crime Prevention Academy, the Head of Academy Guy Collyer said, “The Academy is delighted to have the opportunity to support the Isle of Man Constabulary in its drive to work in partnership with local communities and other agencies on the island to help reduce and prevent crime.

“Locations like the Isle of Man have a unique outlook which the Academy can reflect in the content of crime prevention qualifications and events that are delivered locally.”
