Next Generation innovation - the versatile and secure automatic door locking solution

Leading supplier of locks and security systems, FUHR UK, has a new accredited product with Secured by Design, the police preferred standard for security.

The family-operated German company has been designing and manufacturing locking systems for 5 generations, with its headquarters in Germany and subsidiaries in Poland, the Netherlands and the UK.

The Autosafe 835 is the latest product to join their list of growing Secured by Design accredited products which can be found here on their membership page.

With a combination of latching bolts and hook locks the 835 delivers reliable automatic locking, even in the most demanding thermal environments.  Thanks to DuoSecure technology the latching bolts only need to extend 13mm for the hook to engage in the keep by 20mm, securely locking the door.

The automatic locking feature means the door is always secure without having to lift a handle or search around for keys.  For added security the main deadbolt can be engaged to prevent the inside handle being operated, making it childproof or preventing access from unauthorised users.  The latching bolts also ensure the door fits tightly against the seals, reducing drafts and energy loss.

For additional convenience a motor can be retrofitted anytime to the system without altering the lock for use with a fully automated access control system or intercom. Designs are also available for emergency exit doors, including fully motorised, automatically opening double leaf panic doors.

The result is one lock which offers multiple solutions for a wide range of applications and its enhanced security and ease of operation make it perfect for both the private and public sectors.

Hazel Goss, SBD said, “It is great to see new products being introduced and gaining the ‘Police Preferred Specification’. FUHR have been in this industry for many years and know what is needed when it comes to developing state of the art locks & hardware. I’m looking forward to many more new products coming onboard”.

Paul Balfe, FUHR UK said “FUHR has been at the forefront of door locking solutions for many decades. The Autosafe 835 product is testament to that design and innovation. Working closely with SBD means that customers can be assured that our products meet the most stringent security requirements in the market. That’s good for individuals and building owners alike”.

Secured by Design (SBD) is owned by the UK Police Service with the specific aim of reducing crime and increasing safety for businesses and individuals.

SBD seeks to improve the physical security of buildings and the surrounding area using products such as doors, windows, locks and walling systems along with fencing systems that meet the SBD Police Preferred Specification security requirements.

SBD have many partner organisations, ranging from the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government through to local authorities, housing associations, developers and manufacturers and work closely with standards and certification bodies.

SBD is the only way for companies to obtain police recognition for security-related products in the UK, through the Police Preferred Specification - a product-based accreditation scheme developed 25 years ago, which provides a recognised standard for all security products that effectively deter and reduce crime. SBD work with manufacturers and standards authorities to ensure that security standards are current and updated to keep pace with emerging crime trends.
