Employee safety technology provider, Peoplesafe, are one of the latest companies to renew their membership with Secured by Design (SBD), the official police security initiative.

Founded in 2001, Peoplesafe are proud suppliers of products designed to protect an organisation’s most valuable assets - its people. Peoplesafe integrates state-of-the-art technology with a dedicated, 24/7 Alarm Receiving Centre (ARC), to provide emergency help faster than 999. They deliver on this by answering SOS alarms in less than 5 seconds, through their fully accredited ARC, which has a direct line to police forces across the UK.

This industry-leading service is why Peoplesafe are trusted to protect over 250,000 users, and work with some of the world’s largest companies and public organisations, such as the NHS, BT and Capita.

Peoplesafe are continuing their support of Secured by Design – having been members since 2010 -and working to reduce the load on police services by removing over 320,000 emergency calls every year. Through their technology and dedicated ARC, they provide direct support to individuals who need emergency help and triage all calls to ensure that only the most urgent are escalated directly to the local police force.

The ARC is operated by highly trained, experienced controllers who are solely dedicated to handling personal safety alarms. With this focus, Peoplesafe consistently exceed BS 8484 response standards, taking 3 seconds to listen to an alarm on average. They own and maintain all the systems and proprietary technologies that drive the ARC, ensuring optimum security and quality control.

  • MySOS - Durable and compact, this dedicated SOS device is perfect for most lone and at-risk workers to receive emergency help, faster than 999, at the push of a button. Shaped like a key fob, its IP67-rated waterproof durable casing provides protection against dust, rain, splashing and accidental submersion for 30 minutes in up to 1 metre of water. Pinpoint locations are available, even in remote or built-up areas, by combining GPS and Wi-Fi tracking. The long-lasting battery affords up to 6 days usage from a single charge

  • MicroSOS - Designed to look like a USB stick to discreetly protect lone and hybrid workers. Its IP67-rated waterproof durable casing provides protection against dust, rain, splashing and accidental submersion for 30 minutes in up to 1 metre of water. The long-lasting battery provides up to 5 working days usage from a single charge
  • MicroGuard - A compact and lightweight lone worker alarm, providing discreet and reliable protection at the touch of a button with a battery life of up to 200 hours
  • Twig Ex - Intrinsically safe personal safety device that is ATEX/IECEX approved, making it ideal for use in explosive, hazardous environments. Shock and water resistant to IP67 rating, the device is ideal to be used in the oil and gas sector as well as airports and power stations. The Twig Ex has a 24-hour battery life and is fully compatible with the Peoplesafe lone worker service

Secured by Design (SBD) is owned by the UK Police Service with the specific aim of reducing crime and increasing safety for businesses and individuals.

SBD seeks to improve the physical security of buildings and the surrounding area using products such as doors, windows, locks and walling systems along with fencing systems that meet the SBD Police Preferred Specification security requirements.

SBD have many partner organisations, ranging from the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities through to local authorities, housing associations, developers and manufacturers and work closely with standards and certification bodies.

SBD is the only way for companies to obtain police recognition for security-related products in the UK, through the Police Preferred Specification - a product-based accreditation scheme developed nearly 25 years ago, which provides a recognised standard for all security products that effectively deter and reduce crime. SBD work with manufacturers and standards authorities to ensure that security standards are current and updated to keep pace with emerging crime trends.
