Police CPI’s Ken Meanwell recognised at awards ceremony

Police CPI’s Ken Meanwell was awarded the Chairman’s Award at the BSIA's flagship event, the British Security Awards 2024, which recognised security officers and businesses working to keep people, property and places professionally protected during the last 18 months.

Now in its 27th year, held in 2024 at the Royal Lancaster London, the industry celebrated security excellence with 19 awards presented to security officers and businesses in front of clients and leading industry stakeholders. The show also featured the Chairman’s Award as well as the SaferCash Awards and the Police Partnership Initiative Award.

Starting out in the Army in the 1960’s, Ken Meanwell boasts a distinguished 30-year career in the police force — including extensive work in operations planning and crime prevention and working as Staff Officer for the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) Security Systems Group.

With an impressive, dedicated history to the police force and wider security industry, Ken continued his tireless work past retirement, joining Police CPI and currently working as Compliance Manager and Staff Officer for the NPCC Security Systems Group.

His achievements and commitment to the security industry are aspirational to many, showcasing true diligence to keeping the wider community safe.

The awards were presented by the Association’s recently elected Chairman, Martin Watson, with the SaferCash awards being presented by Deputy Chief Constable of Northumbria Police, Jayne Meir.

Police CPI CEO Guy Ferguson, said: “I am delighted that Ken has received this prestigious award recognising his protracted and diligent efforts successfully working with policing and partners over many years. It reflects extremely well on him that he has received this commendation in recognition for his support to the industry in making people safer.”

Mike Reddington, Chief Executive, BSIA, said: “It was an honour and a privilege to be able to recognise our winners and finalists for their professionalism, innovation and commitment to our industry at the British Security Awards. The scale of achievement we see every year from across each sector is remarkable, and our awards enable us to recognise the outstanding work being carried out by members of both the Association and the wider industry in keeping people, property and places professionally protected on a daily basis.

“As always, the standard of nominations has been exceptional this year, and the judging panel, made up of independent experts from across the industry have had a very difficult job selecting the winners. It is therefore a fantastic achievement by all the finalists.”
