Prestige Products' letterbox guard protects homes from arson and other attacks
A business that produces a blocking and safety device for your letterbox to prevent criminals fishing for your keys or using it as a means for arson and anti-social behaviour type attacks to your home, has renewed its membership with Secured by Design (SBD), the national police crime prevention initiative.
Prestige Products has two main security products – MailGUARD, which is targeted at housing providers and the emergency services, and HomeGUARD, which is targeted at the private residential marketplace via the locksmith industry. Both these products have the same features and protect homes in the same way.
They feature a lockable steel security plate to stop burglars fishing through the letterbox to try to reach your house or car keys, unlock your front door or remove your post to steal your identity. They also have a flame retardant, self-extinguishing and leak-proof fabric bag to contain small fires caused by flammable liquids or fireworks being put through the letterbox.
There is also a ‘Plus’ version of both ranges, which utilises the same self-extinguishing fabric as the standard product but with the addition of a heat detection tube, which releases extinguishant to put out fires, and is intended for homes at high risk.
The company’s third product, PostGUARD, also features a lockable security plate to prevent fishing through the letterbox but differs because it has a non-fireproof see-through mesh bag to allow you to see your post when delivered.
All products are white and encased in a high quality slimline steel frame with a bag with double zip-puller which can be locked, and allow all types of mail to be accepted, including bulky items such as newspapers, magazines and even telephone directories.
They are easily fitted to almost any door in a few minutes and come with a two-year warranty. They have been tested and approved to Technical Standard TS008:2012 for Arson Attack Grade 1.
