Regent’s Place achieves police award for security
Regent’s Place has been presented with the prestigious Secured Environments award by Guy Ferguson, Chief Executive Officer, Police CPI.
The estate, is located in the London Borough of Camden, on one of London’s main arterial roads, close to key transport hubs and the ‘Knowledge Quarter’ cluster of research and educational establishments. It houses a mix of retail, leisure and public spaces as well as office and residential space. As such the area presents a range of security challenges to manage. Recognising these challenges and the benefits that good security management can bring to all users and occupiers of the site, and the surrounding local community, the Regent’s Place management team (a collaboration between British Land and CIS Security) set their sights on achieving the Secured Environments award to ensure an effective framework was being followed.
To achieve the Secured Environments award, the organisation underwent a thorough audit of their security processes and procedures, as well as consultation with staff, to verify that they were following six key principles to maximise the security of all visitors and users of the area.
The six key principles of the Secured Environments accreditation are a commitment by an organisation and its leadership to create a secure environment; an understanding of the security risks that it faces; the development of an effective response to reduce the risks to the organisation; a management plan to achieve its aims and objectives; the effective implementation of the security and crime prevention measures; and the monitoring and evaluation of the security and crime prevention measures.
Jamie Turner, Client Services Director, Regent’s Place said: “At Regent’s Place, we were driven to obtain the award and undertake an independent check and validation of our security operations. This was a way in which we could assess the campus’ overall performance and receive feedback. The award demonstrates we take the security and safety of campus workers, residents and visitors seriously.”
Guy Ferguson, Chief Executive Officer, Police CPI stated: “It was a pleasure to present the Regent's Place development with the Secured Environments award - it is a testament to the hard work British Land and CIS Security have put into rising to the challenge and meeting the high standards required to achieve the Secured Environments award. Congratulations to all involved.”
Secured Environments is a police certification scheme. It was established in 2007 and provides a framework for managing and meeting the challenges faced, and it enables organisations to refine their approach and demonstrate that it is effective. The aim is to help organisations to think about their risks and how to make the best use of measures they already have.
Secured Environments was developed through the partnership of Police Crime Prevention Initiatives and Perpetuity Research and Consultancy International Limited (PRCI), a specialist in crime, risk and security management.
