Secured by Design (SBD) will be at the National Self Build & Renovation Show, which is taking place from Friday 31st January to Sunday 2nd February at the National Self Build & Renovation Centre (NSBRC), Lydiard Fields, Great Western Way, Swindon SN5 8UB.
The show consists of live demonstrations, seminars and experts on hand to share their advice, and is an event aimed at anyone thinking of self-building or renovating their home.
SBD will be at the show and members of the public are encouraged to bring their plans along and discuss them with SBD Development Officers, who will be able to offer practical advice for designing out crime in both new builds and renovations.
In addition SBD will be giving a presentation on the Friday, discussing how homes can be made physically secure by installing doors, windows, locks and other items that meet attack resistant standards, as well as how an open, welcoming and safe environment can be achieved by incorporating crime prevention design into layout and landscaping. The presentation will take place between 14:00 and 14:30hrs.
SBD will also be presenting on the pre-show Professionals Day on Thursday 30th January alongside a number of other respected organisations and associations involved in the building industry. This is the first ever professionals day at the NSBRC and SBD are proud to have been invited to attend and present.
Free copies of the Secured by Design Self Build Guide (May 2019) will be available throughout the show.
SBD Development Officer Emma Snow said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for SBD to inform several key audiences involved in house building – from home owners to architects, designers and surveyors – about designing out crime, with the ultimate aim of creating safe and secure homes. We would encourage all visitors to come and see us to discuss their plans, no matter what stage they are at, and to pick up a copy of the SBD Self Build Guide.”
