Leading British fire door manufacturer Shellen has been given the police stamp of approval for the high security level of its products.
The company has renewed membership with Secured by Design (SBD), the UK police’s official accreditation scheme for products or services that meet recognised security standards.
Based in Belvedere in South East London, Shellen is a specialist designer, manufacturer and installer of quality fire-rated doorsets and screens.
To become an SBD member, a firm’s products must be rigorously tested to prove they are capable of deterring or preventing crime – gaining approval as of a ‘Police Preferred Specification’.
They must also be fully certificated by an independent, third-party certification body accredited by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service.
Alfie Pitt, Director of Shellen, said: “At Shellen, we pride ourselves on the high quality and outstanding performance of our doorsets.
“So, it is extremely pleasing to be able to renew our SBD membership once again. This mark of approval recognises the safety and security our products are able to offer, demonstrating they can not only save lives but also help prevent crime.”
Lyn Poole, SBD Development Officer, said: “Shellen have been SBD members for nearly a decade, so I'm extremely pleased that they have decided to renew their membership.
“I am looking forward to working with them and helping them reap the benefits of SBD membership over the coming years."
