Urmet achieve UL293
Secured by Design member company Urmet are pleased to announce that core components of both their Door Entry & Access Control ranges have achieved UL293.
The 2Voice 2Smart Video Entry Panel (EP-2SMART-SS) and the IPassan Access Unit (1104/921) have been extensively tested to ensure they meet the high standards of UL293 accreditation.
UL 293, Outline of Investigation for Access Control System Units Intended for Use in the UK, is the result of a collaboration between global standards and certification body UL and the UK’s official police security initiative Secured by Design.
This standard addresses UK specific needs and aims to help improve building security by demonstrating the performance of an access control system through careful evaluation. A product that is UL293 certified means that it is recognised by Secured by Design as an individual, standalone product, as opposed to only being certified as a critical component of a certified doorset.
The Urmet 2Smart Video Entry Panel (EP-2SMART-SS) from Urmet’s Door Entry range, and the IPassan Access Unit (1104/921) from Urmet’s Access Control range, have both been subjected to extensive & rigorous testing to achieve UL293 certification. This means that, when using Urmet, customers can be assured that both the Door Entry & Access Control systems will be recognised by Secured by Design, even when they aren’t used as part of a certified doorset.
Manji Gami, Managing Director of Urmet UK said: “If your project has a requirement for Secured by Design approval, then rest assured with UL293 certification for both Door Entry & Access Control ranges, Urmet will truly meet the specification”.
“Without any doubt we can say that Secured by Design, UL293 and the wealth of experience that DOCO’s bring to any development in improving the safety and security of a building should not be underestimated.
“We at Urmet look forward to more developers embracing Secured by Design standards.
Lyn Poole, Secured by Design Development Officer said: “It's great to see that a company such as Urmet UK have both an extensive range of products tested as critical components of a LPS 1175 Premier Fire & Security doorset, but they have also had core components of Door Entry & Access Control tested to UL293 standard, namely their 2Voice 2Smart Panel (EP-2SMART-SS) and their IPassan Access Unit (1104/921).”
