Walker Profiles collaborate on high profile affordable housing project
Long-time Secured by Design member company Walker Profiles have been collaborating on a high profile affordable housing development in the heart of Paisley.
The development, built on the site of the former Arnotts department store in Paisley’s new Abbey Quarter, has 26 two bed flats for social rent, including 10 amenity homes for older people.
Motherwell’s Walker Profiles, a leading manufacturer, supplier and installer of high-quality PVC-u windows and doors who have a long and successful track record of delivering large-scale, technically demanding contracts, was selected as the window contractor for the project.
As an experienced contractor, Walker Profiles had a clear understanding of the demanding requirements of the project, installing 150 Secured by Design accredited Spectus Elite 70 flush tilt and turn windows, manufactured in smooth anthracite grey on white to build on the aesthetics required.
The innovative Spectus Elite 70 flush tilt and turn window is ideal for both medium-rise and high-rise buildings, as it has been specifically designed so the framework doesn’t overlap, giving a ‘flush’ appearance, delivering the aesthetics of an aluminium window at a more attractive price.
The flats support Renfrewshire’s Strategic Housing Investment Plan 2020/21, which aims to deliver 1,000 affordable homes by 2021.
