"What sets us apart is our investment in product development"

Martec Engineering have renewed their membership with Secured by Design, the official police security initiative.

Martec Engineering was founded in 1985 by steel fabricator Martin McHugh, who saw a gap in the market for a specialist metalworker with the capabilities to eliminate the problems associated with composite steel and glass products and structures. Martec specialises in the design, manufacture and installation of bespoke architectural metalwork and glazing systems.

The business has secured contracts across all sectors of the construction industry and maintains long-standing framework agreements for maintenance and repair contracts with local authorities and social landlords.

Earlier this year, Martec generously sponsored a car to assist Police Scotland’s National Designing Out Crime Manager, Stuart Ward, to undertake his work across the country.

Karen Dickie, Sales Director, Martec Engineering, said: “We believe at Martec that what sets us apart from others in this marketplace is our investment in product development and our commitment to ensuring that our products are fully compliant with the relevant certification we hold, whether that is for our fire rated products or our security doors and screens. Secured by Design has an important role to carry out in ensuring the quality of products within projects are maintained to a good standard - that is why we are happy to renew our membership annually.”

Kenny McHugh, Secured by Design, said: “I am delighted that Martec Engineering have renewed their membership with SBD. They have fantastic security doorsets which have achieved Police Preferred Specification and I am looking forward to working with them over the coming years.”
