BikeAway renew membership with Secured by Design

BikeAway is one of the latest companies to renew their membership with Secured by Design (SBD), the official police security initiative.

Based in Plymouth, BikeAway has been leading the field as a specialist supplier of vertical stands and lockers since 2001 and their Warrior lockers have achieved Police Preferred Specification.

The Warrior lockers are made from quality galvanised steel and have 10 year manufacturers’ guarantee. With routine maintenance, the lifespan of Warrior will exceed 35 years.

Their Sold Secure Bicycle Gold accreditation is recognised by most cycle insurance companies offering cover to cyclists, including those with more expensive bikes.

Warrior has a very small foot print (680mm by 1180mm) achieved by holding the bike vertically using a patented sliding hoop which secures onto the front tyre. This system ensures that there is no metal to metal contact with the bike. Warrior’s vertical storage system is easy to use and has passed Health and Safety assessments from many organisations including the NHS, Sainsbury’s, UNITE, Birmingham City Airport and many local authorities throughout UK and Ireland.

The locker’s space saving design allows 12 BikeAways to fit into one standard car parking space. Warriors are suitable for most locations requiring secure cycle parking and now offer the option of adjustable legs resulting in a very smart appearance even on uneven and sloping ground. Warriors have been installed in colleges, hospitals and business establishments, along with railway stations and by housing associations and local authorities who often take advantage of BikeAway’s locker management service.

Space within the locker allows for the addition of magnetic hooks for the storage of wet weather gear, helmet, spare parts and other personal belongings alongside their bike.

“We did not hesitate in renewing our SBD membership” BikeAway, said “The attack test carried out by Sold Secure to gain SBD accreditation for our Warrior is a tough call and we are very proud to have achieved it”.

SBD Development Officer Lyn Poole said: “BikeAway have been SBD members since 2016, so I am very pleased that they have renewed their SBD membership. Their cycle locker can be found all over from housing estates to train stations, and they are popular as they are vertical so take up less room. I will look forward to working with BikeAway over the next three years and to see what innovative ideas they come up with for the next generation of cycle lockers”.
