Business success for Secured by Design at LOCKEX 2018

Secured by Design (SBD), the national police crime prevention initiative, had a constant stream of visitors throughout LOCKEX 2018 at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry on 8 to 10 June.

SBD was among the many exhibitors at this security and fire safety expo aimed at specifiers, facilities managers, architects, designers, planners, builders, wholesalers, retailers, and those involved in security and safety.

Alongside the exhibition, there were workshops, displays, demonstrations, product launches and business meetings.

SBD’s stand in the new-to-2018 ‘Pavilion of Trade Bodies’, a 72 square metre space in the heart of the Ricoh Arena, dedicated to organisations and associations, attracted lots of interest with some excellent feedback and business opportunities.

A number of SBD’s member companies were also be at the expo, displaying their latest innovative products – Aldridge Security Ltd, EVVA Sicherheitstechnologie GmbH, HOPPE UK Limited, M Marcus Limited, Mul-T-Lock UK, SALTO Systems Ltd, Warrior Doors Limited, Yale Door & Window Solutions and Union Architectural Hardware (ASSA ABLOY Limited).

SBD seeks to reduce crime by combining minimum standards of physical security like doors, windows and locks that achieve SBD’s Police Preferred Specification standard and proven design principles of the built environment such as natural surveillance and defensible space.

Whilst police are unable to recommend specific products, SBD can act as an effective gatekeeper and signposting service to our 650 member companies and their products, which meet our rigorous Police Preferred Specification standards.

Members’ products range from secure and robust doors, windows and locks through to cutting-edge IT products, CCTV components, and shutters and barriers. SBD is the only way for companies to obtain police accreditation for security products in the UK.
