Exova, the global testing, calibration and advisory service provider, launched its new testing laboratory supersite at Wednesbury, West Midlands, on Tuesday 6 June.
Special guests and industry representatives were invited to take part in a tour around the new 50,000 square foot testing facility, which brings together facilities from three separate sites into one single location, with the move having been successfully completed on time and within budget.
Work undertaken at the site will include security, durability and weather testing of doors, windows and hardware as well as the testing of automotive trim, components and full vehicles for corrosion, UV weathering, environmental ageing, flammability, vibration and emissions. The site, which has scope to expand its range of services and carry out 10,000 tests every year, will offer testing to British, European, International and OEM standards.
The site was opened by Professor Paul Forrest, Director of the West Midlands Economic Forum and Ian El-Mokadem, Chief Executive Officer of Exova.
Ian El-Mokadem said: "This is an important milestone in the growth of our automotive and building products testing businesses which work for some of the world’s leading household names. Bringing these testing services together, close to our key customers, will enable us to increase efficiency and turnaround times, and give greater access to Exova’s global expertise."
Secured by Design, the national police crime prevention initiative, has worked closely with Exova to help set security standards for doors and windows. Jon Cole, Chief Operating Officer, said: "This is an impressive new facility that will be in great demand from businesses in a wide range of sectors. We have an excellent relationship with Exova and we are thrilled that they now have a substantial test facility that will allow the company to continue to grow and meet the demands of its global customer base for years to come."
