Paralympian Kadeena Cox OBE gets an Asgard SBD secure Bike Shed

Fresh off the back of defending her World title for the third time in a row at UCI Para-Cycling Track World Championships in Rio de Janeiro, Kadeena Cox arrived home to find her new Asgard Centurion Bike Shed x6 built and sat waiting to store her medal-winning bikes. 

Kadeena said: “Wow that's brilliant, it's perfect, thank you so much, this will be perfect for storing my bikes and equipment, it’s the perfect fit and the perfect colour to match my windows”.

Back in October, Kadeena contacted Asgard Storage for advice on a bike storage and training solution to help her reclaim her kitchen from turbo trainers and lots of bike equipment. Kadeena already had the classic lean-to wooden shed, however, this wasn’t secure enough, and Kadeena wanted a space where she could not only safely store bike equipment but also train inside ready for the Paris 2024 Paralympics in a few months.

The Asgard shed experts visited Kadeena’s house to measure up, with an Asgard Secured by Design accredited Centurion Bike Shed at 5ft wide x 9ft deep fitting perfectly. With the added benefit of cable access and an electrical mounting plate to add lighting, power, fans, or charging her phone while riding, the Centurion Bike Shed ticked all the boxes. Kadeena opted for the grey bike shed to compliment her new grey windows. 

Stuart from the Asgard Shed Installation Team said: “This bike shed install was a breeze, Kadeena had had the old shed cleared, leaving a nice almost perfectly flat area of flagstones. Kadeena had an electrician preinstall electric cables ready for us to poke through the access grommets”.

Who Is Kadeena Cox?

Even if you’re not a keen sports watcher, you may recognise Kadeenda Cox from the TV, having appeared on ITV’s I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! in 2021 and winning the BBC’s 16th series of Celebrity Masterchef and amongst quiz shows, Celebrity Gogglebox, The Great Stand Up to Cancer Bake Off, Robot Wars, and many others. However, her achievements are known for dominating the track and field, winning Bronze and Gold in the 2016 Paralympics, and being a World Champion at the UCI Paracycling Track World Championships three times in a row. 

Kadeena was a successful and accomplished able-bodied athlete prior to being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2014. Her condition has had a huge impact on her life, and seven months ago lost the total function of her left side - making her achievements outstandingly impressive. Kadeena was awarded an OBE in 2022 and the Sporting Equals Sportswoman of the Year 2017 at the British Ethnic Diversity Sports Awards (BEDSAs).

We wish Kadeena the best of luck and support for the Paris Paralympics.”

Why did Kadeena Choose the Centurion Bike Shed x6?

Kadeena’s main concern was space to train in and security, with the Centurion Bike Shed x6, a 5x9ft bike shed ticking the box offering a good mix of space and security features. This metal shed model features 5-point locking with an EN1303-rated pick-and-drill resisted lock, a floor that can bolt down to the ground, and reinforced panels, doors and stainless steel hinges. All these security features make the Centurion models a Secured by Design (Police) Preferred Specification, UK Locksmith approved and Loss Prevention Certification Board Level 1 certified bike shed.
