Ian Whiteford, Crime Prevention Design Advisor from Heddlu Dyfed-Powys Police, sent us this photo of a communal dwelling in Cardigan that he recently signed off. The developer showed Ian where an attempt had been made to enter the premises via the rear, ground floor French doors.
The building was unoccupied as the tenants were moving in later that week, so the offender had plenty of time to force entry. The offender failed to gain entry despite multiple attempts and eventually forced entry into a nearby building.
It transpired that the offender was a well-known and prolific burglar and had used a shovel and crowbar to try to gain entry.
The developer was initially sceptical about the SBD specifications, but was very impressed when the specification demonstrably stood up to an attack of this nature.
