Solon Security launches Secured by Design’s first accredited shed alarm

A major supplier of crime prevention and community safety products, Solon Security has become the first company to have a shed alarm accredited by Secured by Design (SBD), the official police security initiative.

The Defender Shock Contact Alarm can be used for sheds, garages and within main residences. It is a dual function 130dBs siren alarm with a solar panel that boosts the unit’s battery power.

The alarm can be triggered when vibration is detected or when the magnetic contacts are separated – making it ideal for the inside of shed doors.

It has been certified to Sold Secure SS503 – Gold Specification for Audible Accessory Alarms – a single level performance test based on PAS 020.

David Simpson, Marketing & Sourcing Manager, said: “We are extremely proud to introduce the market’s first police recognised shed alarm. Shed security has been a prominent police concern during the recent Safer Streets initiative, so we are delighted to now offer an independently tested alarm that police forces can buy and recommend with full confidence.

“The Defender Shock Contact has always been a top seller, but adding it to our long list of SBD products now elevates it to the elite level of our offering.”

SBD Development Officer Hazel Goss said: “I’m delighted to have added the first certified shed alarm to Solon Security’s long list of accredited products on our website.

“Sheds often contain items of high value, such as bicycles and electrical tools, and this device will help people protect their personal possessions.”
