500th SBD Member Company Signed - Welcome SpotCam
SpotCam became the 500th company to join the Secured by Design (SBD) membership scheme in July 2016. Guy Ferguson, SBD's General Manager, presented the membership certificate to Lee Fairbrother, Managing Director of SpotCam.

Police use DNA spray in scrambler bike crackdown
Merseyside Police is using SelectaDNA Spray to track down offenders involved in the illegal and nuisance use of off-road bikes as part of Operation Brookdale.
The handheld devices (https://www.selectadna.co.uk/dna-defence-spray) can be sprayed by officers at suspected illegal and anti-social scrambler bikes, marking the bikes, clothing and skin of any riders and passengers with a uniquely coded but invisible dye. If suspects are arrested or bikes recovered, the DNA code will link offenders to bikes and any associated criminal offences.

Estimating the carbon footprint of crime
Policy makers currently examine the economic and social impacts of crime, but the environmental impacts have not, to date, been included. A new study, published in the Journal of Industrial Ecology, estimates the carbon footprint of crime. The study was conducted by a UK-based research team led by an engineering doctorate student, Helen Skudder, at the University of Surrey and is sponsored by Secured by Design.
